SEASON
s.u.m.m.e.r
Summertime in Arizona is here. When it's not hot enough to roast an egg on the sidewalk outside, it'll spontaneously rain on you so hard you'll never find your egg again. Of course, should you live in, say, a cave, all the sunlight really isn't going to make you much of a difference in your life. The temperature, however, may seem a tad bit more toasty...
Supplies for the caves are running low, even after Wanda and the humans so successfully raided six months ago. There simply are too many people living in the caves now for the usual quantity of supplies to last as long as they used to. Raiders, prepare yourselves: it's time to take a little trip to Phoenix.

" Actually most people who live within my walls are in better spirits then most and ... if you did not kill him what happen to him?
Jeb did not want to be nosy but he wanted a;; the facts he hope Dea did not find him rude for asking. Walk from the plaza to the the kitchen was not really a long one but hearing the last words Dea said Jeb wanted to slow down just in case there was something else she wanted to tell him and just as a precaution he asked.
"Dea is there anything else I should know before I let you live here among the others, the people who live within these walls can be less inviting then myself." Jeb stooped and looked back at Dea. He wanted a answers when both of them where still alone. He wanted to been seen as a friend and not someone who was there just to be the voice of authority Jeb like a balance between the two.
Jeb ran his fingers though it crazy beard brushing out a little debris before scratching his chin. thoughts of shaving his beard came to his head but then he realized he was distracting himself and stopped. "In these caves it good to have a friend I want to to see me as a friend and the way to do that it speak to me like you have know me for years, You have to trust me with everything you have to say because if the wrong thing comes out of your mouth and I ma not around someone might try to take justice into their own hands."

Dea smiled at him. "I'm a people person," she assured him. "As long as everyone's okay with me, then I'll be fine. Anyone who treats me like a friend, is my friend," Dea replied. She shrugged. "I'm not addmitting that I didn't do it. I'm not admitting that I did do it." She smiled as brightly as she could because she was safe.

Jeb Nodded and let her the rest of the way down in the cave and into the kitchen, he knew he have to introduce her to the others and still talk to Lily about Dea bunking with her hopefully it would go over well. Lily was a little short with some of the others these days, Jeb walked into the kitchen motioning Dea to come in also. He walked right over to the stove and scooped some grub onto a plate and grabbed a bun and passed it to Dea. "Here dear now it up, and there is always more if your still hungry". Jeb grabbed his own plate and went ot sit down inviting Dea to sit by his side.. "After we ear I give you the grand tour and then we will both go talk to Lily. She won't be able to say no to me asking to let you bunk up with her when your around." Jeb took if fork and began to eat silently.

Dea grinned at Jeb as he sat there eating and trying to make her feel at home in the dank caves she'd stumbled into. He was one of the most...straight forward people she'd ever met. Really, he was, and she had a profound respect and appritation for him and what he obviouslly established here in the caves. He'd set up a colony of humans. Humans who didn't like souls. Peronsally, Dea wasn't really sure what she thought of the souls anymore. SHe knew them personally, some of them were good, but the ones that were seekers and even some healers could be rude-by all applicable means. Jeb pretty much made Dea think that not all humans were bad and that some were capable of being good. She ate her food in comfortable silence. Truth is, she wasn't so hungry. She was only happy that she wasn't dead and being picked apart by buzzards or anything. Her body was actaully just extremely tired. She was really sleepy and hoped that Lily wouldn't be a butthole about bunking with her and would be nice and let her crash for a while before doing something like...work. " Hey, Jeb. THanks. I mean, really. I'm used to souls being nice...but you're...a good guy. A good human guy." she said to him. She couldn't really believe that she'd actually said that to him. She'd known him for like an hour... She finished her food quietly and waited for Jeb. She knew she'd be hungry later. Her habits were so. She'd probablly have to give up midnight snacks and eating all day because it's not exactly easy to get her favorite foods, i.e. redvines, when trapped underground in a secret community nobody knows exists. That's both impossible and improbable. Somehow though, the establishment manages to strive, she realzied with wonder. How did they do it? " I'm going to have to learn to work, aren't I, Jeb?" Dea said almost complainingly. She stopped realizing that she was safe and still alive and pretty much happy-ish. The least she could do was actually contribute.

Jeb stopped eating when he heard Dea thank him so he did not reply with a full mouth he did have manners. He swallowed a few time to make sure his moth was clear before he started to speak. "Thanks for the complement, but if you actually knew more humans I bet you you find that I'm am just and average old man.Dea you showed up on my door step, so I the least I could to is treat a guest of mine right".
Jeb could never see someone die out there in the heat soul or human alike he his one man who still belie in chances and trust he though that was why he was seen as a good man to Dea.
Jeb picked at he food again finishing it and placed the plate to the side And turned to Dea and smiled Though it seemed like she lived with souls her whole life she seemed to have her head on straight. "Some souls are good people too, we have two that lie among us. Wanda and Sunny. they are both lovely girls maybe you three with get along will with your history. Jeb rubbed his hand across he stomach his shirtt short up a small color of violet dust in compliant as Dea spoke to him once more. She asked if she would need to work, and Jeb already knew the answer to that question.
Having an assigned task to do was not just to keep the their home working in perfect order it was also a way to keep people form becoming stir crazy. Jeb nodded before he spoke. he somewhat looked like on of the bobbled head that you would find on the dashboard of someones car. "Yes Dea everyone here is assigned a job depending on their strengths, Some people here actually do many different tasks. We will have to find you one soon enough." Jeb bones popped a bit and he stood up then bent down to pick up his plate, he picked up Dea also and walked it over to the sink. No it would be time to show her around a bit. "Ready for the tour?"

Dea nodded her head, her hair fell towards her eyes and she put it up in the messy whatever it was it was in. She hopped up, eager to see her surroundings and where she would be living for as long as it took. She had a feeling it would be a while. "Sure thing!" she replied, oddly enthusiastically. "For some reason," she thought out loud, "I'm in pretty high spirits today, considering I was kind of wandering alone in the desert, suffering from heat, and thirst, and starvation. I probablly scare you about how perky I'm being. Usually, I'm not so much like this...." She wondered why she was so happy. Happy really wouldn't be the word for how she felt. Relieved maybe, and it was showing itself as misplaced happiness that could probablly lead people to believe she is either sadistic or crazy. Truth is, she wasn't. She didn't want to be either. She saw how it made her father....she didn't ever want to be like him. This brought down her mood, thinking again, but then she brightened when she realized she was going to meet someone besides Jeb. Not that she didn't like Jeb, he was nice. Really nice, but she wanted to meet other people. It would be great to meet Lily, she was a woman...not that men were bad. Dea thought about Kaden. She missed him....so much. THat was the one thing that killed her the most. Leaving him. He was in the same situation. HIs parents were souls, he was human. Sooner or later, he would have to go through insertion. She didn't think he'd be so lucky as to escape and come here. He didn't have someone banging on his dad's head telling him directions. He had no hope.

Jeb smile a bit it make the laugh lines around his look like deep cracks in stone. "Well being a little cheery is great, sometimes it happens after you been tough something so difficult. It could be just shock, tiredness and adrenaline ." Jeb was a smart man it so he told Dea what he though it could be though it could have been all them or even on of them. He walked on again but this time he did not have his hand on the gun like he did before.Jeb walked her back to the main room and stated her tour there. We call this place the central plaza. it is sort of like the equivalent of down town, you have to come though here ot get to the other places." Jeb explained before he saw Lily walking Alone and towards the residential wing. He knew she would be in her room when he would take Dea on that second of the tour. Jeb was going to point Lily out to her but he decided to wait till later.
He then thought he should show here where the facilitates were so when she need to use them she could find them. Jeb began to walk Dea in the direction and before explaining the facilities to her. " we are very lucky ot have a water supply flowing though these cave we call the facilities the it on second we take are drinking water from it does not taste as fresh as the stuff that comes out of the taps for the souls but it does the job and its pretty clean. thee is also a hot spring that runs through here and it runs into the little pool and that runs out into a natural aqua duct that goes for the same second of the cave we us as the bathroom it takes all the waste out so this place stay really clean.
As Jeb spoke they got closer and closer and soon they were there. [color=navy] you can go in and check it out it is pretty dark though.[color]

Dea shrugged. "Maybe later," she said sounding chipper. She was eager to keep going and see everything everywhere and everyone and....Babble in her head of course. She knew she'd be exploring sooner or later. Or, she'd probablly be running around everywhere doing things for Jeb or anyone else who needed help or something or whatever. She'd do it. Dea noticed that Jeb looked a little more relaxed around her and that he smiled wide and it made him look about ten years younger. Maybe in his younger days he would have had a bunch of girls all over him. Kind of like Kaden. Kaden...The ladies man. Her best friend. They were in the same boat, so alike. He never could tell though how much she wanted him. How much she loved him. It was deep, the feelings that Kaden drove her to feel, and he had no idea. They went on like friends, but never anything more. She was always just there. THey were always together, she'd broken her own heart leaving him and not telling him where she was going or what she'd done, or not done, to her father. It would have made so manythings bad for her. He may not have told any seekers, but he would have avoided her for the rest of her lfie....if they ever were to see each other again.
Dea wiped a solitary tear away from her face and straightened up. She could be such a downer on herself sometimes that people worried what kind of bipolar she was..."Say, Jeb. Are there any...couples down here?" she asked. She knew she'd have to avoid them or they'd hurt her to watch and talk to them. Even if she and Kaden weren't really a couple...she wished so much they were that it'd almost become a reality in her mind.

" Okay Then but if you forget whee this place is Just ask someone else they give you directions. moving on Jeb began to walk her to another section of the care it twisted and turned more then a rattle snake crossing the endless hot desert sand. This time he was taking her to the planting hall then from there the hospital wing, rec room then to the residential area so Dea could meet Lily. Jeb was putting that off as long as possible by then she might have heard that Jeb was giving someone a tour.
When Dea asked about couples it did not shock Jeb, It wasa natural thing for the girl to be curious about a new place. Yes there are couples her a fair few of them actually. there are three younger couples at the monet a a fair few of older ones also well they are all younger to me
Jeb told Dea. "Lily was in love with a boy too, but six moths ago before we got Mel back a seeker came looking for Wanda and shot Wes in the head amd wounded one of the other here Lily has not been the same since. Some days she is in a ok mood but most the time she likes just ot do her job, eat and go back ot her room the poor girl." Jeb kept walking on then soon enough they where in the plating room. there was a few small crops growing and one corned was all turned up to began planting something else. "So this is the planting room, it where we grow all of our fresh vegetables we use mirror to bring in sunlight for the plant.
